Life is Messy.
We’d all love to stay in our high-vibe power 24/7—radiating joy, gratitude, and alignment—but the truth is, we’re human. Emotions fluctuate. Energy shifts. And leadership doesn’t stop just because we’re having a low day.
Here’s the key: you are always leading from the vibrational scale you’re at.
Whether you’re running a business, leading a team, or steering your own personal life forward, your frequency sets the tone. The good news? Mastering the energetic tool of vibration and frequency gives you the ability to reset and realign quickly, so you can show up empowered—no matter what life throws your way.
This post will cover what vibration is, the frequency scale, how it applies to life and leadership, and how to move up the scale!
What is Vibration?
Everything in the universe vibrates. The speed of that vibration determines its frequency.
Think about it this way: the table you’re sitting at has a very slow, dense vibration. Water vibrates faster, moving freely unless slowed down into the form of ice.
Humans are no different. We’re energetic beings, and our emotional states carry specific vibrations.
You already know this intuitively. Remember walking into a wedding reception? The room feels alive, electric, full of joy. Contrast that with walking into an office where layoffs were just announced—the energy feels heavy, tense, and off. That’s vibration at work.

The Vibration Frequency Scale
Here’s a simple breakdown:
Low vibrations → fear, anger, hopelessness, anxiety. Heavy emotions that weigh us—and those around us—down.
Mid-range vibrations → acceptance, willingness, curiosity. Neutral emotions that help us stabilize when we’re shifting upward.
High vibrations → love, joy, peace, gratitude. These create alignment, magnetism, and expansion.
As leaders, we often strive to stay in those high vibes. But the reality is—we’re going to experience the whole range. The skill lies in noticing where you are and knowing how to move upward.
Why Does Vibrational Frequency Matter for Leaders?
Your vibrational frequency doesn’t just affect you—it impacts your relationships, your results, and your business outcomes.
We attract what we are.
If you’re stuck in anger, you’ll pull in more frustrating experiences and people.
If you’re vibrating in joy or gratitude, you’ll magnetize more opportunities and connections aligned with those states.
This isn’t just theory—it shows up in real life. I have a friend who constantly says, “I’m the luckiest person I know.” And you know what? She is! Good fortune flows to her because that’s her energetic stance. Even when setbacks come, she stays aligned with her “luckiest person” frequency—and luck follows.
As leaders, we need to recognize the responsibility that comes with our frequency. Our teams, clients, and even our families feel the ripple effect of our vibration. Leading with awareness allows us to model resilience, adaptability, and empowerment.
How to Move Up the Vibrational Scale
The most important thing to know: you don’t have to leap from anger to joy in one move. That’s nearly impossible. The goal is simply to reach for one better thought, one higher state.
For example:
A boundary is crossed, and you feel anger. Totally normal. Instead of stewing, ask: “Did I communicate this boundary clearly? Could the other person have misunderstood?” That one question shifts you upward into curiosity.
Curiosity is powerful because it removes the emotional charge and creates space for clarity.
I always coach, move to a state of acceptance. "It is what it is." Anytime you can shift from high emotion to something more neutral, it is a win. It allows for the possibility of higher vibes to become accessible.
KEY - if this topic is too hot, you can choose a different topic to help you move up the scale!
For example:
An employee dropped the ball, and now you are at risk of losing a client. Your anger and irritation are off the charts. Totally normal. Instead of trying to reach neutral ground, discipline yourself to think about something pleasurable. Anything. Watch how your energy immediately shifts when you change topics. Now, this is far easier said than done. But if you can do it, the shift is magical.
Practical & Easy Tools to reset your Frequency
#1 - Move Your Body
This is by far the easiest way to move up the scale. When you change your physical state, your mental state automatically follows. According to Harvard Health, "Your mind and body are intimately connected. And while the brain is the master control system for your body's movement, the way you move can also affect the way you think and feel."
Go for a walk
Grab someone and do a synchronized walk (studies also report when you move in synchronicity with another, self esteem improves!)
Exercise
Stretch
"Studies show that the connection between your brain and your body is a "two-way street" and that means movement can change your brain." – Harvard Health Publishing

#2 - Name the Emotion
By stating the emotion, known as affect labeling, it creates distance between it and you. Simply stating, "I feel anxious.", can enhance your mental health and move you up the scale. You are not anxiety itself - you are just experiencing it.
According to Positive Psychology, "Psychological distancing helps manage emotions by stepping back from immediate reactions, enabling clearer perspective and decision making."

#3 - Gratitude Shift
Name three things you are grateful for right now. They don't have to be big. Actually, the more simple the better. Gratitude will also easily shift you from anywhere on the scale to higher. Yes, even if you are experiencing joy, gratitude allows the space to stay there longer.
I have clean water.
I have a safe space to sleep.
I have a friend I can text.
"Gratitude can increase your happiness and wellbeing, life satisfaction, even overall health while decreasing the stuff we all want less of like anxiety, depression, and anger. It can be a powerful practice ." per the Anxiety & Depression Association of America

#4 - Breathe and Pause
Remember the power of the pause. See my Transformational Tuesday video on this very subject https://youtu.be/8bziJwyj1fA
It is in that moment, after a trigger and before a response, where the pause provides the opportunity for clarity. It allows the parasympathetic nervous system to recover from a fight or flight response. Giving way for us to make logical decisions. It also provides us with the ability to have a surge of creative solutions.
Steven Covey, who popularized the original concept developed by Viktor Frankl stated, "Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space, it is our power to choose our response."

#5 - Ask Better Questions > Receive Better Answers
Instead of, "Why is this happening to me?" try, "What's the lesson here? What's one step I can take forward?"
"Our brains are wired to seek answers to the questions we ask.", says Lindsey Godwin Ph.d.. She also states, "This means that when we ask negative or limiting questions—like Why am I so bad at this?—our brains go searching for evidence to confirm the assumption behind the question. Conversely, when we ask expansive, possibility-driven questions—like How can I get better at this?—we create an entirely different mental trajectory."

The Leadership Takeaway
Vibration is our energetic field—and as leaders, we are magnets. We draw in people, opportunities, and outcomes aligned with our predominant state.
This doesn’t mean you need to “fake” being high vibe all the time. It means committing to awareness. Notice where you are on the scale. Celebrate the highs, and when you’re in a low, remember—it’s not permanent. One better thought is all you need to shift.
So the next time life feels messy (and it will), give yourself permission to reset. Take the walk. Breathe. Ask a better question. Choose gratitude.
Because when you choose to elevate your frequency—even by one small step—you’re not just changing your own state. You’re changing the way you lead, the energy you bring into every room, and ultimately, the results you create in business and life.
